We chat to Classroom Co-owner Andrew Bennett, about the Classroom concept and what you can expect from a visit there.
Who is behind The Classroom concept?
The Classroom is a small bar project put together by 6 passionate hospitality professionals who wanted to give back to Perth’s bar scene and create something we could be proud of. We are Adam and Jun Keane, Andrew Bennett and Sasha Verheggen, Dan Sterpini and Fiona Chromiak.
Where did the idea for the restaurant come from?
School for us was all about having fun and learning something at the same time. The Classroom therefore is a venue that is one part time capsule, one part small bar, and something that pays tribute to school day memories of our childhood. This theme is carried across all aspects of the venue, from the layout to the décor and even the food and beverages. The bar utilises recycled school furniture, creating a fun and inviting trip down memory lane for customers and locals alike.
What can patrons at The Classroom expect?
The Classroom provides a truly distinct Small Bar destination in Western Australia and presents a thematic experience not currently offered elsewhere in Australia or the world. The Classroom has captivated the imagination of the local public with its ‘education’ theme. The venue design and name have been drawn from the bar’s creator’s positive childhood memories of school.

Are there any exciting plans in the pipeline for The Classroom?
We are excited about our second venue opening in late 2014. Though its still a little too early to talk specifics, Perth can expect the same attention to detail for food and drinks, with The Classroom’s own brand of signature craziness.
